Coast Privacy Policy
Last updated July 11, 2026
Coast turns your iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch into a control surface for your Mac. It is built to keep your data on your own devices.
the short version
Coast does not collect, store, or share your personal data. There is no account, no analytics, no tracking, and no ads. Coast has no server of its own.
how coast works
Coast talks to the Coast app on your Mac directly, over your local network. Your keystrokes, pointer moves, and other input pass between your own devices and are not sent anywhere else.
camera
In optical mouse mode, Coast reads the desk surface through the rear camera to track motion, the way an optical mouse does. Camera frames are processed on the phone in real time, are never saved, and never leave the device.
microphone
When you use dictation, audio is transcribed on the device. The recording is not stored and never leaves the phone. Only the resulting text is sent to your Mac, and only when you ask for it.
icloud sync
If you turn on iCloud sync, a Coast Pro feature, your control decks, macros, and appearance settings sync through your own iCloud account using Apple's key-value storage. This data lives in your iCloud, not on any Coast server, and the developer cannot see it. You can turn sync off at any time in Settings.
purchases
Coast Pro is sold through Apple. Payments are handled by Apple, and Coast never receives your payment details.
data sharing
Coast does not sell or share your data with anyone. There is no third-party analytics or advertising.
children
Coast is rated 4+ and collects no data from anyone, including children.
changes
If this policy changes, the new version will appear on this page with an updated date.
