Coast Features

Everything Coast does. PRO marks a Coast Pro feature.

Coast turns your iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch into a control surface for your Mac. Install the free Mac app, pair once, and your phone drives the Mac over your own Wi-Fi.

getting connected

• Automatic discovery. Your Mac shows up in the app as soon as both are on the same Wi-Fi.
• Six digit pairing. Confirm the code once, and the link is encrypted end to end after that.
• Stays paired. Reconnects on its own whenever you open the app.
• Menu bar only. The Mac app has no window and no Dock icon.
• Live status. Battery, connection, and link speed shown on both ends.
• Forget this Mac. Unpair from either device at any time.

trackpad

• Full screen trackpad. One finger moves the pointer, tap to click.
• Two finger scroll. Natural or reversed, with momentum and coast distance.
• Pinch to zoom. A real Mac magnify gesture, not a keystroke.
• Right and middle click. Two finger tap and three finger tap.
• Three finger swipes. Mission Control, App Exposé, and switching spaces.
• Tap and drag. With optional drag lock so you can let go.
• Press to click. Press harder anywhere on the pad, calibrated to your touch.
• Axis lock. Keeps scrolling straight when you want it straight.
• Apple Pencil. On iPad, pencil tap, double tap, and squeeze are their own actions.
• Custom wallpaper. Use any photo behind the trackpad.
• Rotates with you. Hold the phone any way you like and the pad follows.

other ways to point

• Optical mouse. Lie the phone face up and slide it. The rear camera reads the desk like a mouse sensor.
• Air mouse. Point the phone at the screen and move the cursor from across the room. PRO
• 3D navigation. Orbit, pan, and dolly with wrist motion, with profiles for Blender, Fusion 360, Maya, Onshape, and Cinema 4D. PRO
• Touch ring. A circular scrubber for timelines, values, and sliders.
• Joysticks and D-pads. Drive the pointer or send keys.
• Precision mode. A toggle that slows the pointer for fine work.
• Nudge pad. Moves the cursor a fixed number of pixels per tap.
• Find cursor. Pulses the pointer so you can spot it.
• Highlight cursor. A spotlight ring that follows the pointer.

keyboard

• Type on your Mac. The iPhone keyboard sends real keystrokes, including emoji and other languages.
• All the extra keys. Escape, tab, arrows, function keys, forward delete, page up and down.
• Media, volume, and brightness keys.
• Shortcut buttons. Any combination of Command, Shift, Option, and Control plus a key.
• Hold keys. Hold a modifier or key down, exactly like a real keyboard.
• Sticky keys. Tap to latch a modifier, tap again to release.
• Two stroke chords. Sequences like Command K then Command S in one button.
• Turbo and rocker keys. Hold to repeat, at a speed you set.
• Numpad. A full number pad, which most Mac keyboards do not have.

grids: build your own controls

• Drag and drop editor. Add a control, tap to configure, drag to move, pull the corner to resize.
• Any size. Grids up to 8 by 12, portrait or landscape.

controls you can place

• Trackpad cell. A pointer surface in any part of a grid.
• Gesture pad. Swipes, taps, holds, and your own drawn gestures, each bound to an action.
• Draw pad. Ink straight onto the Mac screen. PRO
• Scroll strip and scroll wheel. Scroll without touching the pointer.
• Jog wheel. Detents that fire an action each way, at your chosen speed.
• Mouse buttons. Left, right, middle, sticky hold, and multi click.
• Volume fader. An absolute slider that sets Mac volume directly.
• Volume presets. Jump to a set level in one tap.
• Transport cluster. Play, pause, skip, and scrub.
• Now playing. Artwork, track name, and controls for what the Mac is playing. PRO
• App launcher. Opens any Mac app, showing the app's real icon.
• Menu item button. Presses any item in any Mac app's menu bar.
• URL button. Opens a link on the Mac.
• Text macro. Types a saved block of text.
• Timestamp. Types the current date or time in the format you pick.
• Counter. A tally you tap up and down.
• Presentation timer. Counts your talk on the phone.
• Clipboard buttons. Paste the phone's clipboard on the Mac, or pull the Mac's clipboard back.
• Send media. Push a photo or PDF from the phone to the Mac clipboard or Downloads.
• Keep awake. Stops the Mac display from sleeping, and shows when it is held.
• Status tile. Connection, link speed, volume, battery, CPU, and temperature.
• Keyboard toggle. Brings the keyboard up without leaving the grid.
• Macro button. Runs any macro you have built.

gamepad

• One switch. Turn any grid into a controller and it lays itself out.
• Full pad. Twin sticks, D-pad, ABXY, bumpers, feathered triggers, and the system buttons.
• Gyro steering. Hold the phone flat and tilt to steer, with throttle and brake paddles.
• Mapping presets. Action and FPS, racing, platformer, and emulator, plus per button overrides.
• Still yours to edit. Every pad control can be moved, resized, recolored, or rebound.
• Works widely. The pad plays as keyboard and mouse, so it drives most PC ports and emulators.

macros

• One tap, many steps. Chain keystrokes, menu items, apps, and waits into a single button. PRO
• Real logic. If and else, repeat a number of times, repeat while, repeat for each line, wait until.
• Variables. Save values, append to them, and reuse them in later steps.
• Ask you things. Prompt for text, a choice, or a confirmation mid run.
• Text tools. Find and replace, case changes, trimming, splitting, and joining.
• Math, dates, and units. Calculate, format dates, and convert measurements.
• Apple Intelligence. Generate or rewrite text on device, then type it on the Mac.
• Dictate into a macro. Speak, and the transcript becomes the text a step uses.
• Mac control. Volume, window snapping, system commands, launching, quitting, and hiding apps.
• Feedback steps. Haptics, sounds, banners, notifications, spoken text, and QR codes.
• Nest them. A macro can run another macro.

• Dictation. Speak and the text lands on your Mac. Transcription happens on the phone.
• Two engines. Parakeet for fast European languages, Whisper for around 99 languages.

• System. Lock, sleep, display off, screen saver, log out, restart, shut down.
• Desktop. Show desktop, hide others, force quit, empty trash, eject disks, toggle dark mode.
